Upskilling Noreside Engineering’s Automation Team with FANUC Robot Training in Ireland

Fanuc Robotics Training Ireland

Company:

Noreside Engineering, based in Kilkenny, Ireland, is a leading mechanical and electrical engineering services provider supporting manufacturing, pharma, food production, and industrial sectors across Ireland and the UK.

Task:

As demand for industrial automation continues to grow across Ireland’s manufacturing sector, Noreside Engineering set out to strengthen its internal capability by upskilling its dedicated automation team in the use of FANUC robot training in Ireland.

With several upcoming client projects involving robot integration and CNC automation, the team needed to build deep, practical expertise in robot programming, troubleshooting, and real-world applications — all within a local and accessible training framework.

Solution:

To meet this objective, Noreside Engineering partnered with FANUC Ireland to train members of its automation division at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

The training took place at FANUC’s first dedicated Irish training and demonstration centre — a 500 m² site purpose-built for hands-on experience in robot applications, CNC integration, and collaborative systems.

One of the key engineers to complete the training was Alex Chacko, a member of Noreside’s growing automation team. Over the course of the programme, Alex and colleagues learned:

  • Robot programming and operation using FANUC’s teach pendant interface

  • Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, including I/O setup, frames and macros

  • Application-focused automation, covering palletising, pick-and-place, and CNC integration

  • Maintenance best practices to support uptime and efficiency

The interactive nature of the training — including live robot demo cells — provided an immediate connection between what was learned and how it could be applied in Noreside’s client environments.

Result:

Following the training, Noreside Engineering is now positioned to offer FANUC-integrated automation solutions as part of its core service offering. The team can confidently support clients with:

  • Efficient deployment of robotic systems

  • Reduced downtime through in-house maintenance and fault resolution

  • Faster project turnaround thanks to trained personnel who understand system behaviour inside out

“The training at FANUC Ireland was hugely beneficial,” said Alex Chacko. “It gave me the confidence to programme, maintain and troubleshoot robotic systems effectively — and I’ve already applied what I’ve learned on live projects back at base.”

For Noreside, the investment in FANUC training supports both short-term operational readiness and long-term workforce development, aligning with the company’s ongoing strategy to lead in smart, sustainable engineering.

With a reputation for technical excellence and reliable project delivery, Noreside Engineering supports industrial clients with a full suite of engineering services, from automation and mechanical installations to maintenance and project management. The company continues to invest in emerging technologies and in the development of its people — with a strong focus on robotics, energy efficiency, and future-ready manufacturing solutions.

About FANUC Ireland

FANUC Ireland, based in Maynooth, offers localised support, training and demonstration services to Irish manufacturers and engineers. The training facility, opened in 2022, plays a key role in enabling Ireland’s move toward Industry 4.0 by offering access to collaborative robot technology, CNC systems, and real-world automation education.

Over a few intense days, our team got stuck into:

  • Programming FANUC robots – learning how to control, move, and fine-tune them using teach pendants.
  • Maintenance and fault-finding – picking up the skills needed to keep everything running smoothly on-site.
  • Real-world applications – including palletising, pick-and-place, and CNC integration.

This wasn’t a sit-and-watch kind of course — it was hands-on, practical, and designed to prepare engineers to hit the ground running.

Automation Engineer at Noreside Engineering Alex Chako’s take

“It was a fantastic experience — the trainers were really knowledgeable, and everything was based around real-life applications. I left feeling confident and ready to put what I learned into action back at Noreside.”

That’s what we love to hear.

Why It Matters for Noreside

Having our team trained in FANUC robotics is a huge win for us:

  • We’ve now got in-house knowledge that can support new automation projects.
  • We’re better equipped to troubleshoot and maintain systems ourselves.
  • We’re investing in our people, which makes us stronger as a team.

It also shows our ongoing commitment to working smarter and staying up to speed with tech. Supporting our clients with future-ready solutions is also a key area for Noreside Engineering.

What’s Next?

Noreside Engineering has already identifying where FANUC robot training in Ireland can make an impact in our projects — whether that’s faster palletising, CNC automation, or streamlining repetitive tasks.

This is just the beginning. We’re excited to keep building on this knowledge and sharing the benefits across the team.
